Sixth Annual Early Bird Open Bonspiel
The BG Curling Club kicked off its 2008-2009 season with the Early Bird Open Bonspiel on Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28.
Twenty-four teams from several states and Canada competed on Northwest Ohio's only curling ice at the BGSU Ice Arena both Saturday and Sunday.
The finals were Saturday afternoon with BGCC teams winning both the "A" and the "B" finals. BG's Freeman rink defeated the Kortebein rink from Knoxville, Tennessee, and BG's Piroth rink won against the Buchanan rink from Shelbourne, Ontario.
The "C" game was won by the Orpwood rink from Toronto, Ontario over the Pearson rink from the newly formed club in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the "D" final saw the Roberts rink from Detroit defeat the Klein rink from Dundas Valley, Ontario.
Thanks to Rob Feigner for organizing this event and to Jim and Karen Hojnicki for providing the food that makes this event so special. Also, thanks to all of those who volunteered to make this event a success.

Welcome to the Web site of the Bowling Green Curling Club. The Club has four sheets and plays at the Ice Arena on the campus of Bowling Green State University in Northwest Ohio. Try Curling! The BGCC will be hosting a Friday Fun Night of open curling on Friday, January 9 at the Bowling Green Ice Arena from 7-9 pm. The cost is $10/person. Upcoming Events The BGCC has a busy schedule planned for early 2009. Here are some of the events we have planned: On Saturday, January 17, BGCC curlers have been invited to a one-day, two-game funspiel at the Roseland Curling club in Windsor. On Saturday, January 24, the BGCC will be taking on the BGSU Student Curling Club in our 2nd annual BGCC/BGSU Bonspiel. This event will consist of two games plus lunch. On Saturday, February 7, the BGCC will be hosting the Columbus Curling Club for a one-day, two-game funspiel. Several other events are in the planning stages, including: our 40th Anniversary Party, The BG/UT Challenge, the All American, and the Year-End Bonspiel. Check back here for more information.
